Test Post 7

I’ve been procrastinating way too long so it’s time to stop thinking that I need to get everything perfect before I start my spiritual blog.  So today is my first day to share my thoughts and some entries from my devotions.  

Reading Plan:  2 Kings 18-19 / 2 Chron. 32 / James 5
Scripture:  2 Chron. 32:21 – Now because of this King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven.  Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria.  So he returned SHAMEFACED to his own land.  And when he had gone into the temple of his god, some of his own offspring struck him down with the sword there.

Observation:  Here’s some things that caught my eye….

• prophet and king worked, prayed and cried together
• the Lord answers by sending an angel
• angel killed 185,000 assyrians (2 Kings 19:35)
• the people didn’t fight, nor did their armies… but God delivered their enemy into their hands in the morning ALL DEAD
• the enemy was humiliated first and then killed by his own.

Reading the verses and reflecting on it… it is so important to note that the king and the prophet prayed together and cried out to God together.  Unity is very important.  I love how it does not mention about any arguments, conflicts or superiority complexes between the two authority figures.  Especially when one is up there in stature, there is a tendency to be prideful or be arrogant without realizing it.  This situation is a POWERFUL example of what happens when people submit to one another!   This is WHAT HAPPENS WHEN LEADERS PUT GOD FIRST instead of their own agendas.   HEAVENS GOES ON RED ALERT and God sent his angel to destroy the enemy!  That angel went and destroyed 185,000 assyrians in one night!  And when morning came, all were dead. I noticed that the Lord sent an angel to go after the mighty men within the enemy’s camp: leaders, captains, men in high position.  Very interesting!  When attacking the enemy, you go for their leaders, not the wimps or the weakest link.  Only cowards do that.

On a side note, you are a leader and an anointed, powerful one at that!  Which is why while you are breathing, you are being attacked because the enemy wants to take you out before you discover how powerful you really are.  The enemy only has enough resources, he has to budget who he wants to attack.  After all, he is strategic because he does not have unlimited power or resources like our God is.  Think about it… what is it about that situation that the enemy does not want you to see?  If you overcome the current situation that you are in right now… what will that do to your self esteem and your trust in God?  I bet that there are people who are waiting for you on the other side of your obedience, your faith and your perseverance.

I am reminded of what one of my spiritual fathers said to me before:  “... he loves a a good fight because he knows he's a warrior.  And he told God that he wants to take out satan’s top officers like warlocks, witches, etc”  THIS IS WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE IN OUR LIVES.  Now, I realize that we grow and accelerate in God’s divine timing and we will all get there, with proper training and a whole lot of kingdom principles and identity deposited & flourishing in us!  We go after the lost with a PASSION!

Lastly, I also noticed that not only the Assyrians destroyed and Sennacrib HUMILIATED but also he eventually was killed by his own sons.  Wow! Talk about PAYBACK!!!   Time to meditate on this.  Not only will the enemy not succeed in destroying us but we will get more than we thought possibly.  God will turn things around FOR US so that we rise up ABOVE the circumstances.  This is the upgrade that I firmly believe in “in every situation you are in, there is an upgrade available for you.”

Application:  I will look for ways to bring the meaning, the definition and power of unity within my metron.

Prayer:  Father, I thank you for giving me the gift and anointing of reconciliation to go on a deeper level.  Help me to maximize my current season in greater unity than before.
